The first commercial aircraft to have triple-slotted trailing edge flaps and leading-edge slats, the 727 still boasts unprecedented low-speed landing and takeoff performance and can be accommodated by reasonably small airports which are unaccessible to larger, less flexible aircraft.
For decades the 727 was the best-selling airliner in history with 1832 built. The 727 holds a permanent place in the annals of aviation as one of the most significant airplanes in the development of the world's jet transportation system. As a passenger aircraft it has carried over 4 billion passengers.
It is an extremely fast, tried and true workhorse, with exceptional flexibility as a cargo aircraft. In this role it remains, for good reason, extremely popular amongst worldwide airfreight companies.
